XPages are the first essentially new design element released in years in Domino. XPages have build-in Ajax support that allows applications developers to take advantage of Ajax features, such as partial pages refresh and type-ahead and allow them to build up-to-date Web 2.0 applications (which is more difficult with the current technology). You build Xpages by dragging controls onto the XPage to add functionality.
There is a wide area of controls available that enable application developers to quickly and easily get a Web application running. Controls can also be combined into a single object, called a custom control. Custom controls are similar to subforms. They can be used on in other XPages in the current application or copied into other applications for reuse.
In this session Rob introduces you to using XPages and the 8.5 IBM Lotus Domino Designer. After this session you are ready to step into the official training or walk-through the exercises and XPage tutorials that IBM has published online.
